The dawn of a new on line magazine for active women
Standing at the supermarket checkout yesterday I was amazed at the array of so called 'women's interest' magazines. Row upon row of titles that concentrate their editorial and photographic efforts on what celebrities are eating, drinking, who they are dating, what exercise and plastic surgery regimes they follow and the designer clothes they are wearing.
This made me wonder 'what are the real women of the world doing?' And my email had the answer for me - Dawn Magazine.
Dawn Magazine is a free, on line feature magazine which aims its content squarely at women who want to pursue an active lifestyle.
Dawn Magazine is produced by 29 year old former lawyer and avid cyclist Dianna Henry. "I was a very unhappy lawyer and with the support of my wonderful boyfriend (now fiancé!) I quit the industry," Dianna said.
"While working as a lawyer I had a fair bit of interaction with not-for-profits and found the industry a very interesting one. I have always been involved in sport and strive to live a healthy well balanced lifestyle. I enjoy writing and creating clear concise copy was one aspect I liked about law. So I figured I could somehow roll all of these passions into one and create my own enterprise! "
Dawn Magazine covers a spectrum of active women's interests from a variety of sportswomen profiles, to feature stories and the rundown on specific events such as fun runs. The editorial also includes the details of the journey some of the women featured have taken to reach their goals. All very inspirational.
And the fact that it is an on line magazine means that there are numerous environmental benefits. And you can easily pass on your issue when you have finished reading it.
Dianna, who lives in Brisbane has three bikes in her household, and they all belong to her! She is also a girl's water polo coach. She really lives the active lifestyle she is promoting.
