Re-use your old inner tubes to make slip on laces
By Liz Swinton, SheSpoke Cycle Wear founder
Due to the amount of run training and racing that I do, I need three to four pairs of new running shoes a year. That's great for the local athletic footwear supplier but a bit of drain on my wallet and I am always on the lookout for ways to reuse my old running shoes or donate them to a charitable cause.
I also love getting my hands (and feet) dirty in the vegetable garden. At least one pair of my old running shoes becomes a pair of shoes that I use for pottering in the garden, cleaning out the shed, painting or generally just mucking about in dirty places.
So I was thrilled when I spotted this article recently on how to recycle my old inner tubes and turn a pair of lace up shoes (running shoes) into a pair of slip on shoes.
It really is a simple process and recycles two items, the inner tube and the running shoes, into something useful. And all you need for equipment is a pair of scissors.
Here's the link. I hope you find it helpful.
