Headbands a hit at road cycling development camp
Twelve NSW junior girls recently attended a road cycling development camp at Port Macquarie.
The purpose of this camp was to:
- Provide the girls with an opportunity to train together on the road
- Socialise together (an easy task for most U15/U17 girls!)
- Race with Port Macquarie Cycling club on the NSW state road course
- Work on developing basic bike handling, time trial and bike maintenance skills and
- Provide education regarding road safety.
All participants gained experience in track standing, changing a wheel/ changing a tyre and cornering.
Lara Batkin, Bronte Deans and Laura Triggs were the fastest team at changing a tyre and each received a SheSpoke Cycle Wear fleecy headband.
The road safety quiz was hotly contested, with Josie Talbot the eventual winner of the Amy Gillett jersey
(closely followed by Jade Reynolds and Holly Heffernan).
Feedback from camp participants was very positive with one participant suggesting next time the camp should be for one week duration!
