'Come and try' day a ride away success
The rain held off, except for a light sprinkling or two, and more than 40
women cyclists of all ages and abilities, riding a variety of bikes, had
their chance to try their hand at criterium racing.
The day was organised by Cycling Queensland and is part of the women only
seven race series
being held over the next few months. SheSpoke was there supporting the day
with a range of our garments and accessories available for sale.
The 'come and try' group was split into three and expertly guided through
a series of exercises and maneuvers designed to gauge and enhance the
rider's cycling abilities.
Following a short break and some more 'on ground' instruction, the riders
were then encouraged to take part in a controlled mock race, with all three
groups joining to become one bunch, travelling at a race speed.
The 'come and try' session was followed by graded riders competing in a
criterium of 30 minutes in D, C and a combined B & A graded race.
The next 'come and try' event will be held on Saturday, June 9, at Nerang
in conjunction with the race series. For more details on the races contact
