Coffeecrits a winner!
Feedback from the recent Women's Development Series 'Coffeecrit' has been very positive. Held as part of the Cycle Sports Victoria development program, the coffeecrit attracted large number of new and fairly new to the sport women riders.
The St Kilda Cycle Club helped provide some of the atmosphere for the day, held in early December, supplying a coffee truck. A switched on PA presenter coupled with flags, bunting and loads of spectators added to the success of the event. The group of riders was split into two as numbers were high and after a quick introduction to the series from Australian Masters Champion, Pip Read, riders lined up for the start of the criterium. Twenty minutes and three laps later the race finished in great style with most participants finishing well.
According to Pip there were lots of smiling faces and she hoped that the rest of the series would be as well attended. 'A mentor rode along side participants during the event, offering great coaching tips and techniques throughout. There were no places, prizes or rankings awarded, so it was a safe and enjoyable for all involved. And after the event, a chat and event debrief was conducted over a nice cup of coffee!'
